Palace Theatre Plymouth

This building stood out to me, it is half theatre, half dance hall. Its a big building and can hold a lot of people in it.The group also liked this building for other reasons. The building is currently being unused. I like the way that it is so big and stands out so much although at the moment not being used for anything, It has had many people inside and entertained many people so its a sad sight to see it not being used.

Even a old picture of the theatre without the dance academy logo shows off the colour of this building, I think it was made to be erected for a long duration of time, because it is a big space that is probably why it was used as a club but there is a lot more that can be held in a large place.

For more information visit the wikipedia site for the theatre:   Royal Theatre, Plymouth: wikipedia.com

Sticking with my stone idea's, what also looks good is the paintwork embedded in the windows of this building. I know that the paintwork is glass but when it is put next to the stone they have a good relationship and look to them together.

Glass can hold many colours and can have images painted onto its surface similiar to stone but also, can be made from the colour being represented and put together like a mosaic. I like the design currently on the building but I feel that it needs something to match it or bring it out a bit more.

Colour is a lot on this building but I would like to look past that and look at the building as a whole, we all agree'd in my group that this was the most widely used area of Plymouth on a daily basis maybe except for the town center but overall this is the building that stands out the most on one of the busiest streets, therefore, there would be a lot of movement around this area and a lot of people looking at the building and building a idea of plymouth based around the architecture and look of this building.
